This is the final required update. I’ve filmed the conclusion and added credits. Once I get the release form squared away, I should be good. This has been fun to work on.

I’ve given my subject a talent release form. That’s pretty much it, other than the new version of Resolve keeps crashing.

I started writing my conclusion and pairing down my parents’ story. That’s all I have to report.

So, I’ve started condensing my parents’ stories for my segment in the documentary. Not much else.

So, on Friday, I interviewed someone for the documentary. She was very nice and the equipment worked really well. I still need to record my parts.

OK, so I have a filming day set. I’ll be shooting on Thursday. Hopefully, things go smoothly. I also have more photos to use as b-roll for my segment, including this one of my parents’ wedding.

OK, so, I’ve secured an interview for my documentary. I’ve also decided I’m going to tell my parents’ story of how they joined the church, and have gotten pictures from my mom for b-roll. I’ve also created my interview and shot list.

OK, so for my documentary, there isn’t a lot of news. However, I’ve gotten my idea approved and made a post on the BYU-Idaho subreddit looking for people. I’m planning on making a post on r/latterdaysaints later today, as well as asking people in the ward.

So, for my Comm 465 class, I’m doing a documentary. My topic I’ve chosen is on members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who don’t have ancestors who crossed the plains. I’ve titled it, “The Other Pioneers.” I’ve started putting together the project in DaVinci Resolve, putting in the title and a disclaimer that the documentary is not meant to detract from the accomplishments of the more traditional Pioneers (i.e. The ones who crossed the plains). I’m doing this because, as a member of the Church who doesn’t have a direct line that crossed the plains, I feel those of us who don’t have that direct ancestry have our stories overlooked at times, despite various Church leaders saying that the Pioneer heritage is for everyone and those who join the Church are just as much Pioneers. I look forward to sharing some stories of others.

I was bored and wanted to find it.
